Consistency

Sherri and I have gotten a few rides in lately. We're trying to find some consistency. Pic above is the paved road at Wolfe Park that runs between the Pepper St leg of the rail-trail and the Trumbull leg. After this ride we headed over to the bike shop to get a new seat for Sherri. They measured her with the ass-o-meter to get her sit bones width and then selected some saddle options. She chose the Specialized Ariel. So much more comfortable and cooler then her old comfort bike seat.

I just put my road bike on the back of the car. I am hoping to do about 20 miles between work tomorrow. Then were off to Nashville for the International Bluegrass Music Association's World of Bluegrass week.

Next up I will be converting this old Cannondale to a rigid singlespeed. I just picked up a steel fork that I am slowly learning how to install. I have the above Manitou fork already off the bike and I am preparing the rigid fork to install.

Congratulations on this huge accomplishment Don. Can't wait to see more pics and the final results.

Zoe's new bike

It was time to move up. Everyone has outgrown their bikes. I found this one on craigslist cheap and it was in the town where I had a gig yesterday.

Which Bike?

I just noticed the seal leaking on the fork of Jason's old Cannondale. I really like riding this bike on the mellow flat hard-packed dirt trails with Sherri. The fork is not fixable.

Since I wrecked that fork, I have been using my full suspension Specialized below. Its a bit overkill for these mellower trails.

So now I am contemplating a change of some kind. I may replace the fork with a rigid steel fork and also turn the bike into a singlespeed. I figure it would be ridiculously light (about 19-20 lbs.) and really fun to ride. Probably a great workout too.

Or I could scrap the bike altogether and get a really cool steel singlespeed 29er like the Surly Karate Monkey below

Let's Get this Blog Goin Again

Its time we got back to sharing pictures and stories to keep in touch and stoke the flame of inspiration. Above is Sherri's new Shimano SPD shoes and her new Shimano SPD pedals.

Yesterday was Sherri's first time out on the new pedals and she did great. She loves them. Today we took the kids out for a 7 mile ride. They all handled it beautifully and can't wait to get out again.

Planning to ride Tuesday on dirt and Thursday on the road.
