When Will it End?

We got pounded again Wednesday night into Thursday. Above it the view from our front door.

Above is our driveway. Check out how little of the lampost is sticking up out of the snow. Thats a seven foot tall post.

The backyard. There is a deck under there somewhere.

For now, this is my only cycling option. I wonder if all this snow will be gone by the race on April 2nd?

No one around to take my picture

I was very prepared and not too cold at all except my toes, My next purchase are winter socks. I'm wearing my old mountain bike glasses, couldn't find them for the longest time, but I love them cause they brighten up even a sunny day.

Chilly in Tampa

it was 39 degrees when i started to ride. i was so surprised that there were no cars when the lot is usually packed on a sunday mornin. By far my coldest ride ever!

view from my roof

Had to tape up my skylight, we had a crack and with all the rain my bathroom celing got trashed. I ordered another one

Icicle Land

We're getting very cold weather at night and the morning with bright sunshine during the day. Icicles and deep snow everywhere. I heard on the news that our town had the most snow in the Northeast in the last storm at 29". We're expecting another storm tonight and tomorrow so I am expecting no work again tomorrow. Still training although all my rides are on the trainer right now. The training plan is great for me. Very structured and I get emailed everyday with the plan for that day.

Fit and Ready....but when?

I finally brought my road bike in for a fit at Brookfield Bike. The owner (Sean) is a real nice guy. He spent an hour an half with me analyzing my fit and making sure the bike fit just right. And the price was very reasonable.

Aside from the fit, I wanted a new more comfortable saddle. I almost bought the same San Marco seat as Mike until I tried this Cannondale seat which I found more comfortable. I was getting a numb feeling down there from the old seat and knew I need something different. This seat has that slot down the middle to relieve the pressure. It even matches my bike.

I got a new stem to help shorten the cockpit. The old stem was 100mm and the new one is 70mm. The stem you see here in the pic is silver and temporary. They ordered a black stem for me. It will look much better than the silver. The important thing is the fit feels right and I can now more comfortably reach the hoods.

Total black and white scheme. Maybe I should break it up and go for red tape? Now if only the snow would go away I could actually go out and ride this thing.
Maybe a big brothers' ride in the Berkshires come this Spring?

A Balmy 38 Degrees in NY

I rode at Blue Mountain Reservation this afteroon. Lots of snow still on the trail but I went out anyway.

The singletrack was totally covered but the fireroads had lots of bare patches from the ATVs. Still it was pretty gnarly riding. I was only able to go about 3/4 of the way up before the fireroads were covered too. I guess the ATVs were too chicken to go to the top.

Sunset was really nice and it signaled that it was time to get back to the lot before dark.

Better sunset still back at the lot. It was a 40 minute ride but I only covered 3 miles due to the snow. It was a slow go and very slippery. Glad I got out there. Average HR of 144 and a max of 177.
