An Easy Hour on the Road

The workout today called for an easy one hour ride in HR Zone 1. Its hard to hold back for a whole hour. I just did some flat roads in and around town. Altogether I did about 7.5 miles and my HR was never above 135. Mostly it was about 120.
In the above pic I'm wearing my new Cannondale 100% windproof jacket that I bought from Brookfield Bike. Very comfortable and very warm. My only problem today was my fingers. I wore the wrong gloves and my fingers froze. They hurt like hell by the time I got home. Next time its in the mid 30s I'm wearing my EMS gloves.

Riding Outdoors Again!!

We've almost been shutdown this winter. I have been on the trainer for over a month to prepare for a race on April 17th. Here I am below on my first day outside. I took my Specialized mountain bike out on the road. Trails are still covered in snow and the streets are covered in sand, salt, and patches of ice. It was high 30's at ride time.

I did a 1:20 training ride with 8x2 intervals at a moderate pace. Not too bad at all. I actually probably pushed a little harder than the plan calls for.

Tomorrow I do 3 different exercises involving spin-ups. Gonna take the road bike out in Westchester. Much cleaner roads down there.
