Sunny & Cold
It was a beautiful day but freakin cold! I took a quick road ride before riding with Sherri. At 30 degrees the wind was pretty intense going downhill at nearly 40 mph. Today I wore my Columbia shell, wool jersey, balaclava, and shoe covers. Kept me plenty warm. In fact, once Sherri and I began riding the temperature rose. By the end it was nearly 40 degrees and I felt like I was dressed too warm.
Parts of the rail-trail were wet and muddy today. Must have rained last night. We both got mud all over the backs of our clothes.

Pre-Turkey Double Ride
My plan was to take a road ride to get a good hills workout in before riding with Sherri on the rail-trail. I ordered a wind vest from Hucknroll but it hasn't come yet. I though maybe I'd be OK with the long sleeve poly base layer, wool jersey and the green jersey on top. But no, the wind was cutting right thru me at 37 degrees. I was chilled to the bone. So I cut the road ride short. Went home, put on the orange shell and we hit the trail. Much warmer this way.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Getting Cold, but not too Cold
We took a nice one hour ride today at a good pace. Sherri's getting faster and stronger. Today felt pretty cold even though it was only 49 degrees.
Can't wait to see Mike's race pics.
ride with out limits
great day. There were 140 riders. completed 105 miles in 5 hrs 45 min, includes stops to refuel and use bathroom, I was feelin good until mile 60 when all the hills started to come in to play and to boot the wind was in our faces all day. Really wore me down. 60 thru 75 felt tired and was done with long uphill battles. my legs were spent. I really had to dig deep inside and it was a mental game for me,nothing was going to stop me. But after a pit stop and jelly sandwich some stretching I powered thru miles 75 to the finishline. I pulled away from my group, just had to do my own thing. I think they should change centuries to 80 miles,,haha

All the Leaves are Down
Rode from the house and found a lot full of bikers' cars. I knew one of them was Mark's car and the rest were riding with him. I tried to catch them and rode faster than ever on this trail, but I never did see them. When I got back to the lot they were all gone.
I started with my long sleeve jersey but soon switched to the short sleeve. Warm day and I was riding hard.
Everything is heavily leaf covered. Makes for some sketchy areas where you don't see what is underneath. No major problems. I never went down.
The painful road back home in the background.
My little Maple sapling has turned all red for Fall.

Weather is Holding Out
We're getting some decent weather to ride lately. I put the new handlebars on Sherri's bike. The weight difference is noticable and Sherri liked the comfort of the wider bars.
Tomorrow I'm going to do a noonish ride at the Gussy trail. Riding with Sherri is a lot of fun, but I'm feeling a need to ride hard tomorrow.

Veterans Day Ride
Beautiful sunny day today in the upper 50s and I was off from work. Sherri and I took a late afternoon ride. Things were pretty flat on this old rail-trail so I ventured into the woods on some of the short singletrack to get my heart rate up a bit. Wasn't much of a workout but it was fun to be out with Sherri.
I'm about to do an overhall on Sherri's bike to make it lighter and more trail ready. I just ordered booties for me from Jenson at only $4. While I was at it they also had Easton handlebars on sale for $12. So I got the Easton EA 30 handlebars in black for her which should add to the "cool factor" that her bike needs. Next I'll be getting her cyclocross tires and a bashguard. We also need to get her a new helmet. That old white one is cheeeeezy!
